The countdown is anchored to a finish time, so it stays exact even if the tab is in the background. Press Test sound once so the browser lets audio play. Space starts and pauses, L takes a lap, R resets.
Forty five seconds is the working interval in most high intensity circuit routines, paired with a fifteen second changeover. It is also roughly how long proper hand washing takes if you do it without rushing.
