The countdown is anchored to a finish time, so it stays exact even if the tab is in the background. Press Test sound once so the browser lets audio play. Space starts and pauses, L takes a lap, R resets.
I built this because every online timer I tried was buried in ads, wanted an account, or quietly lost time when I switched tabs. I wanted one that starts instantly, keeps exact time, and gets out of the way. Then I added the part I actually wanted most: being able to say how long I need instead of clicking through boxes.
You type a duration the way you would say it, so 25m, 1h30 and until 3pm all work. You can drive it with your voice, which matters when your hands are covered in flour or wrapped for training. It runs interval sequences, not just single countdowns. And it works with no internet connection once the page has loaded.
There are no ads, no trackers, no analytics on individual people, and no account. Your settings are stored in your own browser and never sent anywhere. The timer is free to use and free to embed on your own site with no attribution required.
Phone browsers pause background pages to save battery. The countdown stays exact because it is anchored to a finish time rather than counted tick by tick, and this site does more than most to keep the alarm alive in a background tab. But no browser timer can fully guarantee a sound once your screen is off. For anything you truly cannot miss, set your phone's clock alarm too. I would rather say that plainly than pretend otherwise.

A free online timer, stopwatch and countdown clock that runs entirely in your browser. No account, nothing to install.
It keeps working offline once loaded, and you can add it to your home screen like an app. Your settings stay in your own browser.
Press Voice control and allow microphone access, then speak normally. Your speech is handled by your browser's own speech service, and nothing is stored by this page. Allow the microphone once and switch this on once, and it stays on as you move around the whole site, in this tab or a new one. It switches itself off after an hour of not being used. The button always shows whether it is listening, and tapping it stops it for good.
